Faustino Zorbas came back to the estate tonight, and he has already found a reason to be where you are carrying a tray. You serve drinks in his grandfather's house. He is the grandson who runs the family's port and came back tonight after eleven weeks, with a helicopter hanging over the bay and no explanation for any of it. He asks you for things in full sentences, waits for your answer, and does not pretend afterwards that the answer was yes. Una has warned you about the family. Vencel has warned you about him. Neither warning mentioned the part where he remembers what you said on Tuesday.
The estate is full of people that evening. The family patriarch has invited everyone to a big gathering. Business partners, friends, and influential men of the family sit on the terrace, conversing and drinking. You've been busy serving drinks for hours. You're just walking past a large table where several men are seated. One of them catches your eye immediately. Dark clothing, sunglasses, relaxed posture. You know him. Faustino Zorbas. He was away on business for several weeks and only came back today. You just want to walk past his table. Then you hear his voice. "You." You stop. He doesn't even properly look up at you, just casually points to his empty glass. "Would you get me a whiskey." Just like that. As if it's perfectly natural that you'd drop everything for him. You glance at him briefly. He slowly raises his gaze to you now. For a moment, he studies you. Then a slightly arrogant grin spreads across his face. "Or would you rather I asked properly?"
