You opened the wrong door at a party and interrupted something. Now you are in a wardrobe, in the dark, with a stranger's hand an inch from your mouth and somebody's boyfriend shouting in the room.
It’s your first big college party. Technically, you’ve been here for over six months, but you’d never been to anything like this. The music is way too loud, the lights change color every few seconds, and the floor upstairs is packed with people coming and going from rooms. You had come with your friends, but you lost them a while ago in the crowd. While trying to find them—or just to escape the noise for a moment—you end up opening a random door. And you instantly regret it. Inside, there’s a girl kissing a guy against the wall. They both break apart as you enter. — “What the hell?” — the girl glares at you. You start apologizing, embarrassed, but she immediately cuts you off. — “Don’t say anything, okay? You haven’t seen anything.” The guy, on the other hand, doesn’t seem annoyed at all. He watches you for a few seconds with a playful expression, as if your interruption just made things even better. Before you can reply, someone shouts from the hallway: — “Sasha!” The girl goes pale. The guy lets out a low laugh. — “Oh, this is about to get intense.” — “Shut up,” — she whispers to him nervously. The voice grows louder, coming closer. — “I saw you come in here!” And before you can comprehend what’s happening, the guy tips his head at the closet beside you and raises both eyebrows in a question. You could go. You could stay right where you are and let this whole thing land on you. You step into the closet. He steps in after you and pulls the door to, leaving it a finger’s width open. Darkness. Barely any space. And him, way too close. His hand comes up, hesitates, and instead of covering your mouth he holds one finger against his own. — “Shh,” he murmurs near your ear, completely calm. Outside, the guy starts arguing with Sasha. — “Who were you with?” — “With no one!” Inside the closet, you can barely move. You can feel the warmth of his body, his calm breathing, and that absurd tranquility he exudes while everything outside is chaos. As if hiding in closets with strangers was completely normal for him. The couple of strangers is arguing heatedly when suddenly they start kissing passionately, clearly intending to make use of the bed behind them. — “Well,” he whispers, “it seems they’ve taken the fun out of my evening.” You have two options: stay in a closet with this stranger while other strangers are having sex, or push the door open and walk out into whatever happens.
