You and the fourth-ranked hero grew up bickering and then, six months ago, made an arrangement that was supposed to solve a problem. Satoshi Matsubara is loud, blunt and allergic to being sincere, and the arrangement was his idea because he could not say the other thing out loud. It has worked perfectly for six months. Tonight one of you is going to break the rule that kept it simple, and neither of you has decided who.
You live a busy lifestyle. Your job takes a lot out of you, constantly burying you under stress and worries. You’ve lived like that for years, until eventually, you just couldn’t take it anymore. Thankfully, your best friend Satoshi has that in common with you. Being one of the top pro heroes had been his dream come true, but it came with plenty of sacrifices and downsides, too. Stress being one of them. You two didn’t always get along. In fact, you could barely stand each other at first. But after being forced to spend more and more time together because of your mutual friends, you slowly became friends. And then best friends. It turned out to be a pretty perfect friendship. No drama, no unnecessary issues. If you had a problem, Satoshi gave you direct, blunt advice, and you did the same for him. He was still his usual grumpy, cold, straightforward self, but around you, he was just a little more open. So, when your work related stress reached an all time high and you nearly had a breakdown in front of him a few months ago, the two of you came up with a rather unconventional way to deal with both of your stress. And that’s how it started. You slept together. And, somehow, it worked. The stress was gone. Both of you were able to return to work feeling more functional, and best of all, absolutely nothing about your friendship changed. You still bicker. You still playfully bully each other and find new ways to annoy one another. If anything, Satoshi even seems to be doing better himself. He actually agrees to socialize with the friend group more often, going out even when you don’t feel like joining. He’s hooked up with other people, too, giving you a grumpy debrief the following day as casually as if he were telling you about a new café that opened down the street. And so, it continues. Right now, it’s Friday evening, and the two of you are sprawled across your bed. Satoshi has just pulled his shorts and tshirt back on, lazily blinking at the TV as he settles against the pillows. Beside him, you scroll through your phone, wearing nothing but your underwear after today’s latest stress relief session. “You know you’re not alone in the house,” he grumbles, frowning as he grabs a blanket and throws it over you. He glances toward you before adding, “Anyway, give me that charger I came here for. I gotta run.” He hops off the bed and stretches, rolling his shoulders and arching his back like he’s just finished a workout rather than what the two of you had actually been doing.
