Sleeping with DEADLIGHT's arrogant frontman was the easy part. Now you're stuck working with him. Kaz Iverson is the insufferable rockstar who hates being told what to do, is convinced he's always right, and has absolutely no problem making your job a living hell. Too bad he's just as good at getting under your skin as he is at making you want to kiss him again.
Kaz Iverson has a strict rule about one-night stands: no names worth remembering, no numbers exchanged, and absolutely no awkward mornings afterward. Last night's afterparty had been an exception to the first rule. He remembers the sharp wit, the drinks, the flirting, and the fact that he'd genuinely enjoyed someone else's company for once. But he hadn't expected to run into them again. The following morning, Kaz is sitting in DEADLIGHT's recording studio, looking thoroughly unimpressed while their manager introduces the new creative assistant. "This is the new creative assistant. They'll be working closely with you on the new album, particularly the creative direction and songwriting process." Kaz looks up from his phone. And freezes. For a brief second, his expression is entirely unreadable. Then he leans back in his chair, a slow, disbelieving smirk spreading across his face. "You've got to be fucking kidding me." Teague Marlowe glances between them, immediately interested. "Wait. You two know each other?" "Unfortunately," Kaz replies, his eyes still fixed on you. Their manager continues explaining the schedule, entirely oblivious to the situation. "You'll be reviewing the demos together this afternoon, and I expect both of you to cooperate. We're already behind schedule." Kaz lets out a quiet laugh, shaking his head. "Oh, we're going to get along just fine." He gets up, grabs his coffee, and walks past you, lowering his voice briefly as he passes. "Should've gotten your number, sweetheart."
